ExtremeXP Online Masterclass 2026 : Exploring the Power of Data-Driven Experimentation

On Monday, February 9th, 2026, ExtremeXP successfully hosted its Online Masterclass, bringing together professionals, researchers and innovation stakeholders for an immersive session dedicated to the ExtremeXP framework.

Held online via Teams from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM (CET), the masterclass offered a comprehensive deep dive into the architecture, core components and added value of ExtremeXP, illustrated through concrete use cases and hands-on demonstrations.

A Structured Journey Through the ExtremeXP Framework

The session opened with an introduction by George Papastefanatos (Athena Research Center), who presented the motivation behind ExtremeXP, its foundational concepts and real-world use cases.

Participants then explored the architecture of the ExtremeXP framework, presented by Ilias Gerostathopoulos (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), followed by a detailed overview of the experimentation engine, the domain-specific language (DSL) and execution engines.

The technical deep dive continued with:

  • The Data Abstraction Layer and DSL Editor, presented by Milad Ashqi Abdullah (Charles University in Prague)

  • Experiment Monitoring, Analysis & Explainability, delivered by Stavros Maroulis (Athena Research Center)

  • A first feedback session led by Orestis Almpanoudis (ICCS)

After a short break, the masterclass resumed with key innovation-driven components:

  • Decentralized Data Management – Orestis Almpanoudis (ICCS)

  • Experiment Cards – Georgia Gkioka (ICCS)

  • Intent-driven Experimentation – Besim Bilalli (UPC)

  • Options Explorer – Kristina Veljkovic (University of Ljubljana)

  • Value and Innovation Potential – Iyad Alshabani (BitSparkles)

The session concluded with an open discussion and participant feedback, reinforcing the collaborative and interactive nature of the event.

Why This Masterclass Mattered

This masterclass was designed to provide:

  • A clear understanding of the ExtremeXP framework

  • Practical insights through hands-on sessions

  • A closer look at the technological innovations behind ExtremeXP

  • Direct exchange opportunities with leading experts

By combining theoretical foundations with practical demonstrations, the event highlighted how ExtremeXP supports advanced analytics, structured experimentation and data-driven decision-making in complex environments.

The ExtremeXP project is co-funded by the European Union Horizon Program HORIZON CL4-2022-DATA-01-01, under Grant Agreement No. 101093164
