Exploring Big Data From Space 2023 : ExtremeXP Unveils Its Flash Flood Predictions Use Case

Big Data from Space 2023, which took place in Vienna last month, unveiled the latest frontiers in space exploration and data processing technologies, offering a bold vision of a space future fueled by innovation.

The Challenges of Big Data from Space

During the Big Data from Space 2023 conference, key industry leaders, academic experts, EU entities, and government representatives gathered from November 6-9, 2023, to address the pivotal challenges of managing vast volumes of space data. Organized by SatCen, ESA, and JRC, this event provided a unique platform for knowledge exchange and exploration of the latest innovations in space technology.

As one of our partenar from the cs group company, Arnaud Le Carvennec, presented an insightful use case from ExtremeXP, shedding light on the practical challenges and groundbreaking solutions in the realm of big data from space. The spotlight of the presentation was on ExtremeXP’s application of the METIS solution by CSgroup in predicting flash floods. METIS, integrated into the ExtremeXP initiative, plays a crucial role in providing the infrastructure necessary to develop and refine AI-based hydrological models. The platform is currently undergoing integration into the ExtremeXP pilot for Crisis Management.

The ExtremeXP project is co-funded by the European Union Horizon Program HORIZON-CL4-2022-DATA-01-01, under Grant Agreement No. 101093164
